Critically wounded El Cajon Police Officer Jarred Slocum needs your help!

August 23rd, 2011
EL CAJON, Calif. – A second adult body was found Monday in the charred debris of a Southern California home where a gunman opened fire, critically wounding a police officer, police said. The second body was found toward the back of the burned-out home in El Cajon, a working class city east of San Diego, police spokesman Lt. Mark Coit said. It was believed to be the body of Beverly Rakov, 51, the mother-in-law of suspected gunman Kevin Collier. The other body found in the home Sunday night was believed to be that of Collier. Coit said both bodies were burned beyond recognition so forensics tests would be needed for positive identification. Collier is suspected of killing his baby daughter in his truck, then torching his home, in a dramatic series of events that ended with him critically wounding El Cajon Officer Jarred Slocum, 28. Slocum remained hospitalized in critical but stable condition after undergoing surgery for a gunshot wound to his forehead that fractured his skull. Help support El Cajon Police Officer Jarred Slocum who was shot in the head while heroically responding to a call of a homicidal and suicidal subject armed with a firearm. Jarred is a loving husband and dedicated father of two young children and with one on the way. He's been brave in the face of danger while tirelessly serving the citizens of El Cajon for five years. Facing a difficult recovery period, Jarred and his family will need our support.
