First and foremost, we can't thank all of you enough for the amazing support and kind words you have all provided. The community support of our Deputies has been nothing short of incredible. If the Placer County Board of Supervisors do make the choice to waver on their alleged support of our law enforcement officers, we can promise that the Deputies will continue to remain steadfast in their commitment to protecting our community.

Supervisor Kirk Uhler, who has been voted out this year, has attempted to support these cuts by pointing out that Placer Deputies have received a 5% pay increase this year. That increase was from a 1977 voter approved ballot measure which maintains a base pay that is the average of the three surrounding counties (Sacramento, Nevada & El Dorado). Measure F would only trigger a 5% increase if Placer County was 5% below the three county average. This absolutely does not take cost of living into consideration. We’re sure you’re aware Placer County is a much more expensive place to live compared to those surrounding counties.

Our incentives package, which is percentage based, helps keep us up to par in our lovely and safe county. It allows us to be competitive with places like the City of Folsom as we compete to recruit and retain only the highest quality law enforcement officers. We have been fortunate to attract very talented people from all over California and some from even as far as Hawaii and Florida. The attraction to Placer County is for three reasons: the community, the agency, and the compensation package.

The pay in Placer County is good when compared to the less expensive counties the Supervisors like to use as “The Market.” In all fairness, why don’t they compare Placer County with Counties that have similar costs of living? Might be because we’d be due for the raise we aren’t even asking for.

The Board of Supervisors have doubled down on their position that they aren't making cuts to the Deputies. Please feel free to ask them why they conveniently forgot to mention that their "final offer" includes cutting items like graveyard shift incentive pay in half. This is an incentive given to the Deputies who patrol the streets all night while we all rest comfortably in bed, then struggle to get a few hours of sleep during the day while the neighbor mows the lawn and the UPS driver rings the doorbell. They are cutting this pay nearly in HALF. Feel free to ask them why they have conveniently left that part out. Outgoing Uhler sure did in a recent video.

Let us not leave out their healthcare proposal. The Board of Supervisors have altered the Deputies healthcare benefit with new financial consequences for Deputies who don't use Kaiser insurance. Why Kaiser? Maybe ask Bonnie Gore. She’s worked there for 19 years as a “Community and Government Relations Manager.”

Bottom line is our Deputies have been asked to do more by working forced mandatory overtime, constantly interact with COVID positive subjects, respond to wildfires and riots, all while simply asking to keep the pay they have had. Nothing more. We hope the Supervisors realize this is a win-win.

Thank you again for your amazing support. We’ll keep everyone posted regarding progress, concerns, and future public events.

Placer County deserves the best.

Bonnie Gore using her position to bring in money for Kaiser is a great example of all that’s wrong in politics. Vote her out.

Thank you for the clarification/ truth about the 5% that Uhler, Gore and Gustafson all emphasized! That little tidbit was not mentioned at all! As to the meeting in general, every single speaker brought up heartfelt and excellent points. The passion in the room for the sheriffs and deputies brought shivers and quite a few tears! Looking to the front of the room what we saw was 6 deadpan, blank faces. It gave the impression that they had all just tuned out! There was no compassion, no feeling there at all ! They all had their rehearsed responses ready. At one point one of the gentlemen on the board actually had the audacity to imply that Sheriff Bell was spreading misinformation (after he had left the room of course)!!! It was totally obvious that they have no intention of even considering what anyone had to say! Their minds are made up. The whole thing was so disheartening. But you can bet if any one of them ever gets into trouble, they won’t even hesitate to call the sheriffs department for help. How do they sleep at night!!! So, so depressing. I can honestly say now that each and every one of them lost my vote! Please know that everyone in the PCSO is in our prayers, and you all have our complete support. Thank you so much for your dedication and service to our communities. 💙🙏🏻💙🙏🏻💙🙏🏻💙🙏🏻💙🙏🏻💙🙏🏻💙🙏🏻💙

I definitely am writing another letter calling them out on their conveniently leaving things out and twisting things to appear like they are not doing what they are trying to. The whole thing is abhorrent. You guys deserve getting more, not less.

Thank you for your continued service to your county. Unfortunately, the BOS doesn't see the importance of maintaining a working wage and benefit package during this time when quality recruitment is so difficult.

Good job explaining all this! It spells it out very clearly so that everyone can understand why deputies are asking for nothing more and receiving less.

Truly sad and I believe the bos has behaved just like other self-serving politicians by adopting a 'Do as we say, Not as we do'. There will be consequences. Unfortunately, those of us living in Placer will be who suffer rather than Placers Politicos

Thank You Sheriffs, I wish there was a Way that I Could In Person Give Each and Everyone of You. A Hand Shake, a Hug and a Standing Ovation. In Appreciation of Acknowledging all Your Effects. But at the Moment I Can’t. So I am Sending all of You a Handshake, A Hug , and a Standing Ovation. And Guess What I am Sure I am not alone in this, for I know in My Heart that There Are lot of Us Out Here That Support All of You. 👏👏👏🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🐶😻🐶😻🐶😻🚔🚔🚔🙏🙏🙏

We back the sheriff’s office. We need to keep the pay competitive to keep our highly qualified Officers. The job is more challenging and dangerous than it has ever been.

May you all be blessed with peace and respect as you perform your job. In my personal experience each and everytime i interacted with a police officer i had been treated with most respect and even consideration. 🙏💙 Thank you

Praying for all LEO’s across the great country who are being threatened with defunding or have been defunded. I think they should defund the city halls, give the officers a raise#BACK THE BLUE💙💙💙🙏🏻☝🏻

You are so appreciated 💙 I sent multiple emails on your behalf to the county supervisors. I will always stand behind our deputies; because they’ve always stood behind me 🇺🇸

I am out of state right now and won’t be back for the meeting but I am totally appalled by this whole thing

I hope every single person who lives in this county have your back! I know I sure do! You all deserve better for protecting us the way you do!

We are backing our Placer County Sheriffs

Perhaps the Board of Supervisors should take a pay cut and contribute those funds to what our mighty blue do. Protect and serve! Your posts are informative and enlightening. Appreciate you all. #BackTheBlue

If they mess with you at all I will go out of my way to make sure anyone who will listen will not vote a single one of them back in.

Why do BOS members, and their aides, get paid full time, 6 figure, wages (transparentCalifornia.com) when they are elected, part time politicians?

Don’t mess with our LEO’s! We are a community that wants their services and that stand behind them. -A Placer County Resident #WeBackOurBlue

Can you provide an updated list of Supervisors whose elections your department supports... it’s always good to remind them that residents of Placer County support their first responders than their politicians.

Sorry you guys have to deal with this. I think it’s insane that you struggle at all to get the pay you deserve. Our society has things so backwards when we pay people millions to entertain and next to nothing to protect us, teach us, and drive us to the hospital. Then you having to fight to keep the few dollars you do make, clearly things should be different. I wish they were. I wish I could financially contribute to your pay. Thanks for all you do. You all are amazing and should be thanked more than you are. I am more and more grateful for my PCSOfficers with each passing day.

It appears the BOS will be focusing on educating the community on what is planned versus changing the change. Good luck PCSO deputies you are loved by the community and are amazing. You are the best. ♥️🇺🇸💙

This saddens me that this is even a issue. You all protect us and do your job with excellence. Your response level is by far one of the best. Why would anyone want to defund law enforcement in our county? We should not be divided on this topic but UNITED. I am sorry this is even on the table. You all are amazing- Placer county (specifically auburn area) we can do better as a community and treat those who protect us better.

Sounds like Gore has a conflict and should not vote on the contract issues. And then the county residents need to vote her out of office.

Can we the people of the county have a list of board of supervisor members that want this to take place? That way we can make sure that we vote those members out.

As a PCOE employee in RCSD, I feel any absolutely necessary cuts should be across all agencies, equally. We're all in this together. Including the BOS. Ultimately, you always get what you pay for.

We wanted to take the opportunity to address the rumors going around Placer County related to the Board of Supervisors coming after our Deputies’ pay and benefits.

The simple facts are that the Deputy Sheriffs’ Association and the Board of Supervisors have been engaged in contract negotiations for over two years since the previous contract expired on June 30 , 2018.

The Deputies have offered an extension of the previous contract which includes ZERO pay or benefit incentive increases for the Deputies. That status quo ZERO contract extension has been REJECTED by the Placer County Board of Supervisors multiple times.

The Board of Supervisors has issued a “final contract offer” to the Deputies which includes numerous reductions to their pay and benefits. When the Deputies voted to not voluntarily accept the Board of Supervisors numerous pay cuts, the Board of Supervisors declared “impasse” which is the first procedural step to forcing the numerous pay cuts upon the Deputies.

The Placer County Sheriff's Office has been built around a simple principal that nobody but the most highly qualified, intelligent and competent Deputies would be allowed to police the communities of Placer County. This incredibly high standard is the foundation that the tremendous level of trust and mutual respect between the community and its Deputies has been built upon.

This partnership between the community and its Deputies is directly responsible for making Placer County the incredible place it is today. Crime in Placer County has remained at the lowest in the state while quality of life consistently scores at the top.

Recruitment and retention of quality law enforcement officers is already tremendously challenging due to the hazards of the job and political narrative currently going around the country.

We are already struggling to maintain incredibly high hiring standards for our law enforcement officers, and numerous cuts to the pay and benefits of our Deputies would only exacerbate that problem.

The Board of Supervisors has not asked a single county employee to take a pay cut except for our Deputies. The Board of Supervisors has given cash to nearly every entity that has asked for money including a recent $11+ million given to the City of Lincoln who has a clear history of fiscal mismanagement.

We are asking for your support in letting the Board of Supervisors know that you believe high quality law enforcement officers and fire fighters should be PRIORITY #1! CUTTING OUR DEPUTIES PAY AND BENEFITS IS NOT “supporting” AND “fully funding” PLACER COUNTY’S SHERIFFS OFFICE!!

This should NOT happen. I will pray for you. I moved to this area from Napa because of the quality of life ..... this should not be jeopardized. I am a retired County employee and I know how these things work. Yet the BOS and department heads all get pay raises when they are asking for pay cuts in a desperately needed department such as Sherriffs. It is a thorn in my side. God bless.

The most professional law enforcement agency I have dealt with in my 63 years. Always quick to respond with empathy and common sense. It’s a shame the Board of Supervisors have chosen this foolish path.

We should not do this to our police, they protect and serve this community!!! Hope you guys get what you deserve a pay increase!!!! Thank you for everything you do! God bless!

Every county/city will begin to cut budgets in LE due to keeping the state closed and running out of money. Because of this crime will rise and the same politicians will wonder why. Everyone of these politicians need to be voted out. The states economy should have never been shut down.

How about i run for office. Family members are blue (retired) Firm believer in law enforcement and dept morale. Board needs to reexamine their priorities.

I hope the people in your community stand up for all of you. I am so proud of our LEO's all across this country. ALWAYS STAND TALL. From the Sister of a Fallen Officer.

We support you 💯 percent!! 💙💙 Recent National and local events should only stand to further your cause!! You have very challenging jobs and our county, our state, our country NEEDS great men and women like you!! We back the blue, especially locally!! Is there anything else we can do if we can’t be at that board of supervisors meeting?

The one of the reasons Roseville & Rocklin are a safe place to live and has low crime rate is because of the Placer Sheriff Deputies and Roseville, Rocklin Police Departments. These deputies put their life on the line for you. Would you do the same for your citizens? You need to think about that. There are others areas in the county that need to take a cut. Our lives are at stake here. Your families lives. Hate to see the deputies be treated with such lack of respect and support.

I wish I could be there to support you but I am out of state. I am praying for you guys

To me, this sounds reasonable. To cut their pay when they’re having to work twice as hard is frankly ridiculous‼️They aren’t demanding pay raises, they aren’t demanding more time off with pay, they aren’t demanding anything! All they are requesting is what is reasonable and right❣️ I urge the Placer county board of supervisors to sign the contracts, ASAP‼️ Law-enforcement is not an area where we need cuts. Not only because of the terrorist anarchy and rioting going on, but also because of the increase in human trafficking—the modern day slavery—that does not discriminate on race. We need the men in blue to support the heroes who work to rescue the victims. #SaveTheChildren #DefendTheDeputies

I don’t live in Placer County but I know this is just one of a lot of agencies that will experience this atrocity. I’m sorry to hear this is even happening. Sending my support and prayers as all LEOs are putting their LIFE on the line every single day knowing it could be their last day. For that, it deserves to be compensated appropriately. My 5y/o princess and I stand with the men and women wearing the badge! God bless!

This IS California! Law enforcement and firefighters were to blame during the 2008 recession. Now, Placer County is targeting their FINEST (and I'm assuming very soon, their BRAVEST) as the reason for Armageddon (at least that's what it seems). Stand TALL. Stand BRAVE. To all of Placer County's FINEST, this visitor to your county stands WITH YOU!

How dare they treat our men and women like this! Shame on them. Even with pay increases it would never be enough for the job they do and the dangers they face. I and many others could never even imagine doing their job. They need everyone's support now more than ever and instead they are failing them. So sad.

My blistering e-mail was typed and sent this morning. If it doesn't get their attention, I don't know what will. One thing I said was we, the residents, will be looking at the vote on defunding and not giving the deputies a raise, and take appropriate action come election time.

This is unacceptable!! You are brave humans that sacrifice your lives every day to protect and serve. I love our placer county and those that protect it and serve!!

🙏💙🇺🇸I hope they come to their senses and give you all the contract your deserve !

It is outrageous and unacceptable! My husband is retired LEO here in AZ and with his agency he didn’t get a pay raise for the last 10 years, it’s disgusting. He risked his life every day and we lived paycheck to paycheck raising our family. Since he retired he makes a lot more doing construction, it’s insane. Where is the incentive for our everyday heroes that keep our streets safe?!

It is literally astonishing to me that you guys have to deal with this on top of everything else. I guess life and property are not valued? This is only a small part of what you protect!!!! Congratulations regarding crime in Placerville County being amongst the lowest in the state for crime. This is a huge accomplishment considering what is going on in California with crime and criminals’ early release etc.

Disgraceful..I sent my email this morning. Placer County is the last decent place to live in California. If our Safety is not important to the Board of Supervisors there is not point in living here.

What ever u do, do not ever accept a reduction in pay under any circumstances!!!! Stand up for one another and remember that u work for the citizens in ur community that need you and are grateful for ur sacrifices!!!!!!

So unfair! Prayers for your fight!🙏

And I am willing to bet the supervisors are not taking a pay cut. Stand in solidarity to support law enforcement. Get on the phones and call the supervisors. Show up to meetings and make your voice heard. This is not right. Not right at all.

Email was sent yesterday. We back the green, in our community. Thank you never feels like enough, for all that you do. We are so grateful to have such an upstanding department serving our community. 💚

This is there way to "defund the police".

Police officers already dont make enough so to cut their already stupidly low pay even further! How can you put a price on a life? How can you put worth on a family? These amazing officers and even more amazing families put everything on the line everyday and you dont want to pay them?? Thats bullcrap!

So terribly sad! Blessed Prayers for his wife, children, family & his LEO family. Thank you Sir for your service, Your watch has ended but your memory will always be alive...

There are no words to describe the loss of this noble young man for his family, friends, colleagues and the entire country. Nothing makes sense anymore with the senseless violence and murder of our men and women in blue and all others affected by the left and antifa. May God test his soul and give strength and healing to his precious family. Please give your deepest consideration when heading to the polls this November. And thank you officer Bohannon for everything you’ve done and stood for in your too short life.🙏🏻❤️🇺🇸

Such sad times today with all this hatred of our brave Police Officers who are just trying to keep peace in our country, my heart goes out to his family, thanking him for his service defending & protecting, R.I.P.😔🌹

God help our protectors! This is a war against America...by American independent leaders disguised as servants of our communities. Please know...God sees...lawlessness is an assault on God and man! I'm so saddened by this Officer's death! I pray for comfort and hope for the family and loved ones of this young man.

So sad where is BLM. Prayer for peace and love. RIP.

Praying for Officer Bohannon, his wife and children, colleagues and friends. With love from your retired and current blue line friends in South Australia. These shocking events must stop!!

Prayers for his family and fellow officers 💙🙏🙏

RIP. Prayers to the family. Your life mattered. This is the result of the far left and Pelosi pushing socialism and hate for the police.

Three years ago today we lost a local hero.

Sacramento County Sheriff’s Deputy Bob French responded to a call where two CHP officers had been shot, and a Deputy was on scene exchanging gunfire with the suspect. On his arrival, Bob and the suspect engaged in a gun battle with rifle fire.

Bob was struck in the heart but continued to fire in the suspect as he fled. Bob’s wound proved to be fatal, as did the suspect’s not long after.

We honor Deputy Bob French on this day, and every day as many of us have vidid memories of the event from the not so distant past.

We are praying for Bob’s loved ones, that they continue to heal from the loss of such a great man.

We are living in dangerous times with calls to defund the police being echoed amongst groups across our nation. Even our own pay and benefits are at risk here in our own county by supposed supporters of law enforcement. When was the last time you heard someone say cops are overpaid?

As violent attacks increase with a target on our backs, we remember sacrifices like Bob’s so near and dear to our home, and our hearts. The suspect in Bob’s incident was armed with a handgun, an AK-47, and a live hand grenade. This is what we are up against.

Finding willing young people to sign up for the job is becoming more and more difficult everyday.

We need your support now more than ever.
🇺🇸 🚔
Rest in peace Deputy Bob French, and all the others who have worn the badge and given their lives serving and protecting their communities.

Lord protect our law enforcement men and women. We need them desperately. Thank you so much for your bravery and sacrifices.

We need to support our law enforcement, even more right now. They are under attack. If our communitites attacked the culprits that broke laws, regardless of color, perhaps we would have better awareness around law and order. This goes both ways....wrong is wrong and right is right. Tearing up our law enforcement agencies will only result in more lawlessness.

Praying for Deputy French’s family. He was a hero! Back the Blue!

I'm going to say something different here with respect to all that have fallen to the trash of the earth. That said my support and prayers go out to the one's still going to work today. Where I live I've had my own run in with bad cops that support the thieves and low life parisites. I still know more good than bad.js. I understand because I also have a target on my back because I am one of 2 people in my neighborhood that won't stand to let the bad folks take over. Ever

Bless our Heros and bless all the men and woman who wear a badge and go out every day to keep us safe, thanks

You're right, Bob is a hero and should be honored for his sacrifice, but I can't help notice the twisted logic in this post. No, we should not de fund the police and they should get more money for what they do, lots more, but I can't shed the irony? On the one hand complaining you're up against an AK 47, and how dangerous that is, while thanking a 17 year old armed with an AR 15 promising to kill protesters is, to say the least, perverted. Anyway... You have my support!

I am so sorry for my own past behavior for I was raised around officers and love them but grew up in the hippy era. No excuse please God help our men in BLUE and I pray for all and their families. Amen ✝

So many amazing deputies have been lost, but not forgotten; and they would be heartbroken at today’s world. In the memory of all the officers lost, we need to stand up to those who would seek to defund! #HonorTheBlue

On the end of this communication is the silence of a son, father, husband, friend, and hero. My sincere condolences to all who saw Deputy French in the various roles he played in each of their lives. My heart also goes out to the 911 dispatcher who I'm sure felt empty and anxious waiting for any response from "43 A1". You, and all 911 dispatchers, remain close to my heart.

End of watch always kills me. 😭 praying for his family.

PRAYERS NEEDED!

From the Park County Sheriff's Office:

On August 20, 2020 a Park County Sheriff’s Office Deputy was involved in a head on collision with a suspect that had been reportedly involved in a domestic violence situation a short distance away on US Highway 24. Due to the ongoing investigation by the Colorado State Patrol we have been unable to comment on this situation until now. This incident continues to be investigated as an intentional act.

The deputy was responding in a marked patrol vehicle and it appears was targeted by the suspect. The deputy was able to avoid the initial attempt by the suspect to strike his vehicle but was unable to avoid another action that resulted in the collision. The impact was estimated at over 100 mph combined speed and both vehicles were totaled.

The deputy, who has requested to remain anonymous, was air lifted to a Denver area hospital where he remains today. The deputy suffered a severely broken leg, a severely broken arm and severe bruising. He will remain in the hospital for rehabilitation for an undetermined amount of time.
It is the opinion of myself and numerous other law enforcement persons, that if it were not for the large Chevrolet Tahoe that the deputy was driving, the outcome could have been tragically different and resulted in much more severe injuries or worse.

Please join us in sending prayers for the Deputy to heal and recover.

I truly don’t understand how any law enforcement employee gets up in the morning and goes to work. This is horrific as far too many acts are. Prayers to the deputy and his family. More than one person was injured in this accident. His entire family and department was.

Sending prayers! Thank goodness he survived such a horrific collision! I hope he makes a full recovery. I’m so amazed that there are still so many brave men and women who are still willing to serve in law enforcement in this climate. The amount of evil out there is so disheartening. Sending positive thoughts and prayers to the officer, his family and all the others out there continuing to put their lives on the line for us. I’m very thankful for your service.

Lifting this officer up in a healing prayer. Also praying for his complete recovery. Praying for his family and his department as they deal with this senseless act of violence against this officer. Know that this family supports and respects all LEO’s and all at are in my daily prayers. May each and every officer be covered by the Blood of Christ Jesus, keeping you all safe. Amen 💙💙💙🇺🇸🙏🏻☝🏻

Prayers for this deputy’s recovery.

Prayers being said for the Deputy. It's hard to believe that anyone could have survived that horrible accident. So glad he survived and hope he has a rapid recovery.

Omg, what is wrong with people! Why do they do such violent things. My guess is meth, cocaine, heroin and anything else they can get their hands on. And they want to defund the police. Send a social worker out for a domestic issue. . 😂😂😂 we are sending many prayers to heaven for this officer. Praying for a complete healing of his body. You've got this! 💙💙💙

Wrapping this officer in prayers for peace and healing. Thank you, thank you for helping to protect us all.

Hoping he has the best medical team behind him and family/community support as well. Is there a GoFundMe set up for his recovery?

Domestic violence abusers don’t care who they harm, they always escalate their dangerous behaviors. Prayers for the Deputy.

Praying for complete speedy recovery for this officer. I personally understand what the family members is going through. My brother was in a accident exactly like this one and wasn't expected to live through it. But with so many prayers from friends and loved ones God pulled him through. So Sir with my prayers and all those others praying for you keep your faith, God is the almighty physician and will guide your doctors bringing you through this. My brother made it through so can you!! All our love to you and your family

This breaks my heart. God we ask you to wrap your healing arms around this officer. Guide him throughout the healing process. Bring him back to his job he chose of protect and serve. 🙏 🙏 🙏 🙏 Amen.

Praying for his recovery and for his families who were hurt emotionally May God stay with you during this difficult time. 🙏🏻🖤💙🖤

I’m so glad they weren’t successful in their attempt to murder this deputy. I’m sure his family is even happier. When will they realize these are human beings❣️💙

Praying for this brave Deputys recovery.

Pray for this officer😢🙏💔 And praying the one who did this, is being prosecuted as 1st degree attempted murder! If he is alive... if Not ....the good Lord will have the last say👍

🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻 for all in law enforcement and this deputy! I feel so bad for what all in law enforcement have to deal with. I can’t wrap my head around the tolerance! This needs to be stopped

Praise that he survived and praying for his recovery, along with the safety of all law enforcement.

Whoever did this to this officer needs to be held accountable over and over and over again my passion of my prayers are with you

Prayers for the officer and his family

Praying for a speedy recovery for the deputy.

Sending prayers for this Deputy!!🙏 😢💙

I'm prayers go out and hope to cut recover of the deputy does make it and survives okay

Praying for the physical and emotional healing of this deputy, and for his family. I'm so thankful for our law enforcement officers who courageously set out each day, never knowing what might happen. You are the true heroes, not the dishonest, hateful ones who are trying to defund you.

We really need an eye for an eye punishment in this Country. It's not what America stands for but I truly do not think criminals will be stopped any other way. Attacks on Police Officers everywhere is beyond out of control and must be put to an end. While I believe in the immense value in Community Policing there are just societal issues and personal flaws it will never eradicate. Back the Blue. My prayers for a full physical and emotional recovery for this Deputy.

So sad. I can't believe the the torture being inflicted on innocent people, especially the little ones they are killing.
